On Sunday, May 21st, 2023, at the French Institute in Cairo (Mounira) Cairo Climate Talks held their 86th event under the theme “Navigating Egypt’s Water Resources in the Face of the Climate Crisis: Policy, Technology, and Community Solutions”.

The event was a cooperation between CCT and the French and German Embassies in Cairo.

The event was opened by Mr. David Sadoulet, Director of the Institut français d’Égypte (IFE), and opening remarks were given by H.E. Frank Hartmann Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany and Raphaël Martin de Lagarde, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of France. A keynote speech was given by H.E. Dr. Ali Abo Sena, CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency.

We had the pleasure to listen to a keynote speech by H.E. Dr. Hani Sewilam Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.

We listened to a fruitful discussion featuring the experience of esteemed panelists Eng. Samaa El Baroudy, General Director for strategic cooperation in the Nile Water Sector, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt. Eng. Atika Ben Maïd, Head of Unit, Water & Sanitation, Natural Resources, and Sustainable Finance at AFD (Agence Française de Développement). Mr. Enrico Spiller, Principal Portfolio Manager at KfW Office Cairo. Mr. Mohannad Hesham Abouelrouse, MBA. CEO of Water Will and LifeFromWater Foundation. The panel was moderated by Salma Kadry, MA Climate, Peace, and Security Specialist at CGIAR.
