The 100th Cairo Climate Talks, held on May 24 and 25, 2025, marked a major milestone celebrating over 14 years of bilateral cooperation and climate dialogue between Egypt and Germany. Designed as a two-day celebration, the event engaged youth, civil society, policymakers, private sector leaders, and academic stakeholders, affirming the continued importance of collaboration in achieving meaningful climate action.
The first day, May 24, featured the Cairo Climate Talks Summer Festival, hosted at the Zamalek Aquarium Grotto Garden. The festival was open to the public and welcomed over 500 visitors, including many families and children. With more than 20 Egyptian and German organizations participating, the space came alive with interactive showcases, educational exhibitions, and workshops offered in both Arabic and English. Seven mini-panel sessions addressed themes such as urban sustainability, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, and youth-led climate innovation. The day emphasized the essential role of civil society and youth-driven initiatives in shaping Egypt’s climate future.
On May 25, the high-level segment took place at the German Residence in Cairo, hosted by H.E. Jürgen Schulz, Ambassador of Germany to Egypt.
H.E. Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Egypt’s Minister of Environment and H.E. Dr. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, provided two keynote speeches.
The featured panel discussion, titled “Scaling Impact Through Dialogue: International Cooperation for Climate Action,” brought together public and private sector voices to reflect on how partnerships can deliver practical solutions to climate challenges.
The evening concluded with a commemorative video tribute, chronicling the Cairo Climate Talks journey since its inception, and an award ceremony recognizing founding members and long-standing contributors, including Greenish and Banlastic.
