The 99th Cairo Climate Talks, organized in collaboration with YouthinkGreen Egypt, explored how Egypt’s climate tech startups can drive sustainable export growth and strengthen the country’s global positioning in green innovation. As global environmental standards continue to evolve, particularly in key markets like the EU and Egypt faces both a challenge and an opportunity: adapt or risk falling behind.

The event featured an interactive fishbowl discussion that encouraged open dialogue among entrepreneurs, policymakers, and sustainability leaders. Together, they explored how Climate Tech can serve not only environmental goals but also national economic interests by opening new export pathways.

Participants examined the critical role of ecosystem collaboration, highlighting the need for intentional linkages between startups, trade institutions, academic and R&D bodies, and industry players. It was widely recognized that sustainable innovation cannot thrive in isolation. Instead, a dynamic and well-supported ecosystem is crucial for scaling solutions and meeting global demand.

The panel also addressed the tightening of EU regulations on green imports, which are set to reshape major Egyptian exports, such as fertilizers and building materials. Attendees discussed how local climate tech ventures, if properly enabled, could serve as a lever for export diversification and long-term economic resilience.
