COP of Implementation: Women-led solutions to Climate Change 12.11.2022 at COP27 – German Pavilion
https://www.german-climate-pavilion.de/program/01
While the effects of climate change are felt by many; women, girls, and other marginalized groups are disproportionally affected by it. Climate change related phenomena such as global warming, ecosystem deterioration, and extreme weather events add further pressure to already existing intersecting inequalities, such as unequal access to economic or educational resources, land, technology, or job opportunities. Women are often the first in line to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change, such as shortages in water, food, and other essential resources.
The implementation of previous commitments and concrete solutions is a key topic of COP27. In the framework of this event, we want to see how women in Egypt are already leading concrete climate action on the ground – as founders of green social enterprises, environmental organizations, consultants, and policy makers.
The session will present a wide range of concrete women-led solutions for better and more inclusive implementation of climate-action in the COP host country, providing a learning-opportunity for both policy makers and change makers in Egypt and beyond.
